How to Receive Mail When Traveling

While traveling by sailboat, it is often difficult to complete projects, make repairs, or simply receive mundane correspondence as you are never in one place for very long. The inability to be at your permanent address to receive items is more difficult to plan for than you would think.

One service we have been using for several years now is Traveling Mailbox. We researched all the available options before leaving for our travels. We ended up chosing Traveling Mailbox as they offer a secure mailing address in serval locations across the USA with an accompanying diverse set of services including mail sorting and scanning, check depositing, integrations with popular apps such as Evernote, and even an entire virtual office.

The user interface works on laptops or mobile devices and is very intuitive. We receive an email notification whenever something has arrived for us and we can choose from a complete and intuitive list of actions to take with each item. We can have the envelope opened and scanned, trashed, or forwarded to another destination. We have even forwarded to remote international destinations and use their integrated calculator to estimate the cost of shipping. They are very responsive to both the day-to-day mail scanning to questions about the general services offered via their chat service.

They are also continually adding to their feature list and improving their existing service. For example, they were considering adding a VPN service.

Overall, we feel this service is the ideal mail and package management service with the best value.
